The Question Box

Well some people said they would like me to start a blog so here it is. I wish I could say this was my first website so I would feel like less of a nerd, but it's not. However, I've never done a blog (or even read a blog for that matter) so that's my excuse for this one being so bad.

I am going to try to make this blog interesting so you actually want to read it and so it's not just a big waste of life. Here you'll find stories, phrases, pictures, and diagrams from the chronicles of my super exciting life. I'll try to update it twice a week or so, or at least until I get bored of doing this.

This blog is also going to have a theme to mix things up a bit. If you found this site you might have noticed that the address is http://questionbox.blogspot.com. It's called The Question Box because that's also what the blog is going to be used for. You can ask me a question about anything - life, how the world works, whatever - and (if it's a good question) I'll answer it. If I don't know the answer I'll find it. Send questions to brien.applegate@gmail.com.

Enjoy.

  • That doesn't sound bad, it seems pretty cool to me.

  • Thoughts of my hour vegging on the couch:

Does a story passed down lose "literal"/intended meaning in an oral language?

How do speakers of oral languages think, remember, perceive?

    Is ADD a neurological evolution?

Is a schitzophrenic who thinks of time in "olympiads" really immersed in their own auditory-language/culture and should we try to cure them, or just make them more comfortable?

If words are used to "keep people in their place"
(-Deborah Tannen) then does your identity hold you together.. is it a glue?

And, when our personality changes like a chameleon, depending on our situation, is it adaptive to the "perceived" situation or is it detrimental, affecting the situation or does it depend on the process and not the degree.
